About ATD Austin

Our Mission Since 1974

ATD Austin (formerly known as Association for Talent Development Austin Chapter) is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Professional Association serving the Austin-Area learning and talent development community. Our mission is to advance talent development professionals in the Central Texas community. As the local chapter of the international ATD professional association we strive to educate, connect, and support our members' professional development.

Our Core Values

Our Core Values are the "North stars" for chapter leaders and members. They guide how we make decisions, show up for each other, and how we represent the chapter and our mission in the community.

Our Leadership Team

Members of our leadership team are talent development professionals from diverse backgrounds. Team members are selected for their roles based on the expertise they bring to the position and the professional development goals they aim to attain as a result of serving in a leadership role. We are grateful to our leaders for volunteering their time and talents to help advance the mission of ATD Austin.

Chapter Awards and Recognition

ATD Austin has received numerous awards and recognition for consistently going above and beyond for both achieving CARE standards for chapter management and in achieving membership goals. Due to the high quality of our programs at ATD Austin, we are proud to be pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute to offer educational programs that can be used towards initial eligibility and recertification of the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credentials.

ATD CARE Plus 2024 Achievement: ATD Austin is recognized for going above and beyond ATD's Chapter Affiliation Requirements (CARE).

The Talent Development Capability ModelTM

ATD's Talent Development Capability Model is a framework to guide the TD profession in what practitioners need to know and do to develop themselves, others, and their organizations. It is a blueprint for impact.

More than 3,000 professionals participated in research that identified the 23 capabilities needed for success, which are part of the model. These include expected capabilities such as instructional design and training delivery as well as newer capabilities including data analytics and emotional intelligence and decision making.

At ATD Austin, we align our professional development training, programs, and events to capabilities from the Model to ensure our members are advancing within each domain of practice as a result of participating in chapter programs.
