2024 VOLUNTEER ROLES

You must be a current chapter member to volunteer.

The following role descriptions are high-level summaries of key responsibilities. Full job descriptions with approximate time commitment for each role are available upon request by emailing volunteers@tdaustin.org.

  • President Elect: (1-year term) Serve alongside the current president and learn the ropes of how to manage the chapter. Attend and facilitate board meetings, participate in strategic planning sessions, manage relationships with partners and sponsors, and grow your leadership and business skills in preparation for being the incoming chapter president.
  • VP of Professional Development: (2-year term) Manage the chapter's communities of practice leaders, consult on programming strategy with the president and president-elect, leverage your instructional design, facilitation and project management skills to bring professional development events and education to chapter members. Ensure alignment of content with the ATD Capabilities Model.
  • VP of Finance: (2-year term) Work with the chapter board members to develop annual budgets, monitor compliance with budgets, and partner with our bookkeeper to ensure strong financial performance and controls for the chapter. Collaborate with board members on strategic planning for the chapter and attend chapter events.
  • VP of Membership: (2-year term) Manage the membership team, host and plan member socials, member orientation sessions, and community events. Manage member inquiries, provide membership data reports to the board, create strategic plans to promote member engagement and grow the membership. Collaborate with board members on the strategic plans for the chapter and coordinate the annual member survey.
  • VP of Technology: (2-year term) Manage the technologies and systems used by the chapter. Ensure appropriate data is aggregated and synthesized so the board can make data-driven decisions for the chapter. Manage the director of website position and ensure appropriate access controls and security protocols are followed to keep chapter and member data safe. Collaborate with board members on strategic plans for the chapter and attend chapter events.
  • Director of Website: (1-year term) Collaborate with the board and chapter leaders to ensure the website stays up to date. Use graphic design skills to update, add, and remove pages as needed, enhancing the website to ensure a stellar user experience. Perform regular maintenance on the website and file storage system to manage storage and ensure important documents and files are available. Work with the VP of Technology to provide reporting and analytics data for the website to board members.
