Our new ATD Austin SIG held the 2nd month of each quarter on 4th Tuesdays!

Session leaders are local CPLPs who have a range of work responsibilities. Each CPLP SIG host will select a talent discussion topic relevant to their interests.

In this session we're discussing tips for learning retention.

As learning professionals, what can we do to help our learners increase retention? Since memory is essentially encoding (inputting), storage (organizing), and recall (accessing) of the information, what tactics can we use in our deliverables to reinforce these?

Come join in an interactive session on enhancing your training designs for learning retention.  We'll explore principles from leaders in the field as well as some practical recommendations for ILT, VILT, and eLearning courses.

And since it is Star, be prepared to actively participate, sharing information like what makes learning memorable for you!

Star Fisher is a senior instructional content designer with Aurigo.

Aurigo is a leading provider of cloud-based software for capital planning, capital project management, capital program management for infrastructure owners.

Star has decades of experience as an instructional designer and has often been labeled the “Games Guru.” She also loves the neuroscience of learning and practical application of it.

She has earned her M.S. degree in Instructional and Performance Technology and her Certified Professional of Learning and Performance (CPLP) accreditation. Star has won awards and recognitions in the field from her employers and for her volunteer training work, including the singular “Oscar” for “Exemplary CPLP Trainer” from Austin ATD.
