What's Happening in Performance Management

The event starts with an introduction to the evening’s host, MicroAssist, winner of ATD Austin’s 2019 Leader in Learning Award. After hearing about the instructional design work at MicroAssist, we’ll dive into the topic for the evening: Performance Management.

Performance management is a hot and controversial topic. Most employees dislike performance reviews and there are wildly different approaches to handling reviews. We’ll look at a couple of recommendations on this topic from leaders in the field and have a discussion about what works and does not work in your organization. At the end of this session, you’ll have insight on a variety of approaches to performance review and a good frame of reference for evaluating your own process.

Linda Warren is a past president of ATD Austin and is currently serving as a National Advisor for Chapters in western states. Her past involvement in the Austin chapter includes serving as SIG leader, VP for SIGs and newsletter editor. Seven years ago Linda established the Leader in Learning award and recently launched a new SIG — Feet on the Street, which features real world L&D practices. Linda has a master’s degree in instructional technology from the University of Houston and became a CPLP in 2012. For three years she co-facilitated the ATD Austin CPLP study group. Linda is the Director of Learning and Talent Development at Thornton Tomasetti, a global engineering firm based in New York City. At work and in volunteer efforts Linda’s passion is helping individuals and organizations become better at what they do.

Our ATD Austin SIG is held the 2^nd month of each quarter on 4^th Tuesdays! 

Session leaders are local CPLPs who have a range of work responsibilities. Each CPLP SIG host will select a talent discussion topic relevant to their interests.
