Professional Development Workshop (virtual): Leveraging Learner Personas and Design Thinking for Better Learning Design

It’s one thing to talk about the need for Learner Personas; it’s a whole other thing to actually create them.

In this workshop, you will begin the process of actually creating learner personas for your learners. This process goes deeper than simple demographic information; you’ll determine the core motivators for your persona. If you are interested in giving your learners a gamified experience, you will also begin to understand what game mechanics will appeal to your persona.

You will not only be working with your peers when designing your personas, but you’ll also have the input from Jonathan Peters, PhD and Monica Cornetti as you design. You will also have a downloadable “map” for designing personas that you can print out when you’re ready to design for the next bunch of learners.

Your learners aren’t like you. Isn’t it time to design for them?

Schedule:

Time:Jul 16, 2019 12:00 PM - 1:00pm CT
Topic:
Learner Persona's Part 1

Who is learner persona? This session walks you through the first 10 pages of your Persona Creation Tool. You will actually begin filling in information about your persona as Jonathan shares with you. Homework: Create a Learner Persona using the Sententia Persona Design Tool.

Time: Jul 18, 2019 12:00 PM  - 1:30pm CT
Topic:
Learner Persona's Part 2

Your learner’s Motivation Profile. Most people who create personas stop short of truly understanding their persona. In this session we will look at how a persona is motivated and why we may need more than one persona to represent our learners, and how to find points of commonality in their Motivation Profile. This is vital if you are gamifying the learning experience.
