2027 Volunteer Leadership Opportunities

You must be a current chapter member to volunteer. The following role descriptions are high-level summaries of key responsibilities. Full job descriptions with approximate time commitment for each role are available upon request by emailing volunteers@tdaustin.org.

VP of Administration

2-year term

Help keep ATD Austin organized and running smoothly. As VP of Administration, you’ll oversee the chapter’s records, key documents, board communications, and administrative processes, helping ensure important information stays accurate, accessible, and up to date. If you’re organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy creating order behind the scenes, this role is a great way to put those strengths to work while serving on the ATD Austin board.

VP of Finance

2-year term

Help keep ATD Austin financially strong and positioned for the future. As VP of Finance, you’ll oversee the chapter’s financial health, guide budgeting and reporting, and partner with the President, board, and chapter bookkeeper to ensure responsible financial operations. If you’re financially minded, detail-oriented, and interested in using your skills to help a nonprofit organization thrive, this is a meaningful way to make an impact.

VP of Marketing & Communications

2-year term

Help shape how ATD Austin shows up in our community. As VP of Marketing & Communications, you’ll set the chapter’s marketing and communications strategy and lead a team responsible for social media, the newsletter, website, and other chapter communications. If you’re a strategic thinker who enjoys creative problem-solving, developing others, and finding new ways to connect an organization with its audience, this role offers a chance to make a visible impact across ATD Austin.

President-Elect

2 years as President-Elect, followed by 2 years as President

Help shape what’s next for ATD Austin. As President-Elect, you’ll work alongside the President and chapter leaders to learn the organization, support strategic priorities, develop future leaders, and prepare to guide the chapter into its next chapter. If you’re ready to grow your leadership skills, think strategically, and make a lasting impact on Austin’s talent development community, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead from vision to action.

Director of Newsletter

1-year term

Help keep Austin’s talent development community informed and connected. As Director of Newsletter, you’ll partner with the VP of MarCom to create ATD Austin’s monthly newsletter, curating chapter events, sponsor news, industry happenings, and L&D trends. If you enjoy writing, have a creative eye for content, and want a visible way to stay plugged into the Austin L&D community, this could be a great role for you.

Director of Branding

1-year term

Put your creative eye to work and help shape the ATD Austin brand. As Director of Branding, you’ll steward our visual identity and create polished digital, print, and event materials that help ATD Austin show up consistently across the community. If you enjoy branding, visual design, and turning ideas into creative experiences, this role gives you the opportunity to build your portfolio while making a visible impact.

  • Order food, set up, clean up, registration, and engage with membership before, during and after events



Administration & Operations

Help with tasks needed to keep the chapter running smoothly.

  • Keep the website up-to-date
  • Send out surveys or emails
  • Post on Social Media



Partnerships

Manage relationships with our partners and sponsors.

  • Coordinate with connections at universities and organizations
  • Share resources with similar professional organizations
  • Meet with sponsors and partners to discuss benefits of supporting the chapter
